There's an old saying that goes something like this: "You can't keep a good dog down. " Actually, that's a lie. But that's what it should be. Do not adjust your glasses or your monitor, folks, what you are seeing is indeed real. I'm back. After a couple of months shooting films in Hollywood, I have returned to Chicago and my RedEye roots. Actually, that's a lie too. The Hollywood part, not the RedEye part. And I'm back to doing what I do best. Predicting sporting events.

Each week, RedEye's prognosticating pooch, Whizzer, goes toe to toe (paw to paw?) with Rob Cressy's miniature schnauzer, Callie, to see who picks NFL games more accurately. Whizzer was impressive in Week 2, going 5-0, while Callie was just 2-3. Overall, Whizzer is 7-3 and Callie is 5-5. Loooooong way to go folks. CALLIE Denver at N.Y. Giants: Giants (wrong) Pittsburgh at Cincinnati: Bengals Washington at Green Bay: Redskins (wrong) San Francisco at Seattle: 49ers (wrong)

Terrell Owens is back, people. Kind of. Not only that, but he's head back to Dallas. Kind of. T.O. announced Wednesday night that he had accepted an offer to play for the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League. That's not exactly the NFL. And Allen is not exactly Dallas - it's a suburb north of Big D. But close enough, right? "Uh-oh, it's official," Owens said in a video on his Twitter page. "I'm headed back to Texas. That's right, IFL, here I come. Allen, Texas, here I come.

This weekend's NFL playoff slate will not include the Bears. That's OK. I still can bring you great insight into pro football games not involving the hometown team. Here are my predictions and analysis for all 11 games this postseason. Wild-card round Kansas City at Indianapolis The Chiefs rested virtually all of their starters in Week 17 yet still almost won in San Diego. Indy beat KC in their own house 23-7 just two weeks ago. It seems like an easy Colts pick, but sometimes things are tougher than they seem.

There could be new grub to chomp on while watching the Bears next season at Soldier Field. The Chicago Park District board of commissioners on Wednesday will consider authorizing the district to enter into a 10-year food management contract with Aramark Sports and Entertainment Services LLC . The Philadelphia-based company beat out two other proposals evaluated by the Park District and the Bears to provide food and beverage services at...

I've been playing fantasy football for longer than many RedEye readers have been alive, and there's been one constant in all that time: You build a great fantasy team with running backs. Not anymore. If you want to have a great fantasy team these days, you must have great receivers. The NFL is a passing league and with so many teams using running backs by committee, pass catchers like A.J. Green, Dez Bryant and Brandon Marshall are huge difference makers. Brandon Marshall, Bears I know Jay Cutler is out for an extended period, so...

With eight weeks down in the NFL, it's time to recognize midseason MVPs at four positions. These awards are based on overall performance as well as value based on where they were drafted in your average league. Peyton Manning, QB The Denver quarterback has been amazing. Manning, a midround pick in most leagues, is performing like a No. 1 choice. He hasn't missed a beat since coming returning from neck surgery and a year away from football, averaging 301.9 yards a game and throwing for 17 touchdowns.

Happy new year, loyal readers! Winter's a bit challenging for us dogs. Your fur dries out in a heartbeat, and you start to wish they made indoor restrooms for canines. It's even rougher when the Bears collapse and fail to make the NFL playoffs. I'm not about to leave you hanging, though. Grab your hot chocolate and have a seat next to the fire, because here are my picks for the wild card round, complete with my paws ratings.   CINCINNATI AT HOUSTON 3:30 p.m. Saturday, NBC As much as I can't stand cats, I really want to pick the Bengals because of their bruising...
