Fish Bar 2956 N. Sheffield Ave. 773-687-8177 Rating: !!!! (out of 4) Already hot The scene: Packed to the gills. Fish Bar in Lakeview is tiny, so if you're dining with a group of four, make a reservation for one of a few booths. Seating is first come, first served at barstools for parties of one, two or three; groups larger than four are out of luck (or as the sassy menu says, “Go next door” to DMK Burger Bar , also owned by Michael Kornick and David Morton)

Did you guys see the video that was making the rounds on the internet the other week? No, not the one with the cats or the one with the corgi puppies, but those were great. This one was about beer. Specifically, it was about being a girl, and being intimidated by an extensive beer menu, being confused about what to order. And then it recommended three fairly stereotypical (Read: fruity and sweet and pink) drafts because they're "girl beers. " Shoot, the video was actually called "Best Beers for Women to Order," only it wasn't about the best beers.

If this weekend's warm weather didn't have you anticipating spring, this news will: Fountainhead , a Ravenswood bar that craft beer fans count among the city's best, plans to open its popular rooftop patio March 16. Management is quick to say that the date is "weather-dependent," though because the patio is partially enclosed and heated, the opening should have a green light barring bitterly cold temperatures. The Fountainhead also welcomes a new beer director this spring following the departure of previous director Phil Kuhl, who now oversees craft beers for distributor Wirtz...

Stout Barrel House & Galley 642 N. Clark St. 312-475-1390 Rating: 3 (out of four) Off to a good start The scene: If the atmosphere at Stout seems at once familiar, it's probably because you've been to Public House, Bull & Bear or Hubbard Inn lately. With oversized chalkboard menus, big tufted leather booths and just enough TVs not to overwhelm, this new tavern shares a lot of characteristics with these other popular after-work spots. Thanks to its slightly-less-trafficked location on Clark, Stout has had plenty of seats available in...

Check out a full photo tour of The Anthem on Metromix. Blame it on “The Wonder Years” coming to Netflix Instant: We've been feeling some serious '70s nostalgia lately. TV dinners in wood-paneled basements, fondue, Fleetwood Mac - even if you didn't live through it, the era is back in a big way. A new sports bar in Wicker Park is hoping to capitalize on the feel - Shake 'N' Bake chicken and cans of Schlitz included. Set to open Wednesday, The Anthem sits just across the street from sibling bar ...

After five years of providing Lincoln Park with sand, indoor bags games and a venue in which to chug an entire fishbowl of brightly colored booze, Uncle Fatty's Rum Resort will close its doors May 4. Co-owner Brian Galati today announced that he and his partners will expand next-door Headquarters Beercade , which they also run, into the space currently occupied by Uncle Fatty's. "It was near and dear to our hearts," Galati said. "[Uncle Fatty's] was a concept everybody counted out in the beginning and here we are five years later.

Jonah Frank is the first to admit that it's going to be hard following Tona Palomino's act. " He's the warmest and most brilliant and clever and caring guy," Frank said of the former Trenchermen beverage director. After Palomino's exit last month, Frank, 24, was tapped to helm the Wicker Park restaurant's highly regarded cocktail program. While he claims that he'll never be as "charming" as his predecessor, he has his own vision for the cocktail, beer and spirits list. If concerns about your bank account--or liver--prevented you from snapping up $175 Whisky Fest tickets before they sold out, you're not out of luck. While the April 26 bonanza, which features more than 250 whiskeys, is a popular event, it's not the only way to expand your whiskey knowledge this month. Local bars and restaurants pour enough of the amber liquid to provide an excellent crash course, and many visiting distillers will conduct special events around the fest. Whether you're a whiskey novice or as seasoned a scotch drinker as Ron Burgundy, next week provides a full lineup of tastings and dinners to expand...
