Review: Slippery Slope 2357 N. Milwaukee Ave. 773-799-8504 Rating: 3 1/2 (out of 4) Already hot Slippery Slope will be judged by whether people describe it as "a fun bar. " That's how partners Danny Shapiro and Andy Gould describe their ambitions for the two-week-old Logan Square spot, and while that goal may sound laughably simple, it's anything but. The prevailing cocktail trend in the city was, for a while, toward severity....

You've finally unpacked the last plastic tub and are fully moved in to your new place. This calls for a drink, yes? Stocking your home bar is probably the most enjoyable move-in task, but keep in mind that Rome wasn't built in a day. I've been living in my current apartment for a year and half, and I'm still adding bottles to my bar cart. You don't need to drop hundreds of dollars at once to create a home bar - just know what you like. Below are guidelines for creating a well-rounded, serviceable bar, but tailor it to your tastes: more wine, a range of whiskeys, a few types of gin … or all of the above.

By all accounts, Lotties in Bucktown has been through a lot. It boasts a colorful history, and by “colorful,” of course, we mean scandalous. Since 1934, Lotties has been home to gambling, stripping and the consumption of some pretty greasy bar food. But clearly all that drama wasn't enough--Lotties will add “television set” to the list of things it has been.  NBC's "Chicago Fire" is using Lotties as a filming location Thursday and Friday. Whether or not it's recognizable, the pub will appear as the backdrop for an upcoming episode's emergency scene.

Already a destination for whiskey and cocktail fans, Logan Square's Longman & Eagle now has even more room to accommodate dark spirits devotees. The Off Site Bar is a 150-square-foot "micro bar" in a former garage adjacent to the restaurant's back patio. It has its own menu with similar spirits, beers and cocktails to those at Longman & Eagle proper. The funky, casual decor extends to the micro-bar as well, with motorcycle accessories, speakers and plenty of wood throughout the small space.

Wrigleyville is like a drunk eclipse. Stare directly at its center - Wrigley Field's Captain Morgan Club or the bleachers - and risk personal injury. It's sometimes marginally safer to stay around its periphery, where an entire neighborhood of bars beckons both pre- and post-game fans. But with whole blocks packed with blue-and-white-clad drinkers, where does one find the iconic Cubs experience? With honorable mentions to neighborhood favorites The Gingerman Tavern , Nisei Lounge and Sheffield's , we present the triangle of essential...

Market's owner had thought about reimagining the West Loop sports bar in 2015 to better cater to guests of the pending Nobu and Soho House hotels. “We wanted to be a little more upscale," said managing partner Donald Whitcomb. "We wanted to get away from the sports bar mentality and the kind of frat-ish, heavy drinking crowd.” Then a pipe broke and filled the space at 1113 W. Randolph St. with two feet of standing water. "The whole place was gutted, water damage everywhere," Whitcomb said.

Is the Cubs' season already this frustrating? It apparently is for one cub.  A video posted Saturday on YouTube shows a dustup at a Wrigleyville bar between a man in a Cubs costume and a patron who removed the mascot's furry head.  The video quickly racked up more than 30,000 views, thanks to a mention on Deadspin.  As the site notes, this is not the Cubs' new mascot, Clark the Cub, but rather a fan version that is not affiliated with the team.  Want more?
