It's the holiday season once again, and what kind of self-centered goon would I be if I didn't get you fine folks the gift of a rapid-fire touch-em-all column? (Note, after this year we'll have to change that phrase.) > > Firing time and the lying's sleazy: From UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel getting canned a full week before the first Pac-12 championship game (and still coaching it) to the complete farce of the Urban Meyer saga, it's that time of year where college football teams eliminate their coaches and bring in a set of fresh faces.

There are two ways to look at the latest teaser for "The Strain," FX's upcoming horror series based on the books by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. Take it from the perspective of the humans living in New York, and all those body bags is not a good thing. But from the point of view of the vampires about to unleash hell on the city--hey, yay! As FX says, "His army will rise this summer. " But either way you lean, "The Strain" looks like it will give us some mighty good frights this summer.

When Chicago police officers observed a car double-parked on the 1400 block of North Keeler Avenue in Humboldt Park Thursday, they decided to talk to the driver. But the driver, Francisco Cruz, of Belmont Gardens, couldn't speak, the police report said. He mumbled something when officers asked for his drivers license, which he did not have, but they couldn't understand him. And when officers asked him if he had something in his mouth, his response was still too garbled to understand.

Here it is, the long awaited RedEye exclusive interview with Coach Q's Mustache ( @coachqsmustache ).   Jonathan Toews is still sidelined, you worried? We've had newborn babies with more hair on their faces than Johnny had in the 2010 playoffs, but we still love him … always concerned when there's an upper-body injury … my first instinct was "oh no, not the lip again," but he'll be OK. What's your wish list at trade deadline? Besides you losing the bag on...

It's Christmas card time and I have only one this year. And it goes to the Detroit Lions. Dear bankrupt, sorry, toads of the NFL, Thank you for your disgusting, lackluster attempts at football this season. While real football franchises such as the Packers and Bears struggled with injuries, you had none. You had the division title given to you on a silver platter, and you were not man enough to take it. Ridiculous losses against the Eagles and Ravens have lowered you to butt clown status.

Divvy has a brand new bag. The Chicago-based travel bag-maker Po Campo has designed a bag specifically to fit on the bikeshare program's handlebars, which are too narrow for many typical bags.   Maria Boustead, the owner and founder of Po Campo, said she noticed that the bikeshare bicycles, which are made by the company Alta Bicycle Share, would be ideal for running errands around the city if only it were easier to attach bags to them.   “You can put a bag in there, but the bungee is just too taught,...

* (out of four) The tagline for "The Bag Man" is "The cat's in the bag. " A cat is not actually in the bag. And it takes almost the entire movie to find out what's in the bag, which -- spoiler alert! -- you can pretty much guess if you remember the answer to Brad Pitt asking, "What's in the box?" "Inspired by" Marie-Louise von Franz's story "The Cat" and re-written from a script called "Motel" by James Russo ... wait, let's pause a second. Russo also wrote a movie called "The Box. " This guy clearly likes transportable modes of...

Out of sight, out of mind. Let's get you updated on the latest in the NBA talks. Nothing. There, you're updated. Sorry, but the message remains: Nobody misses you. I miss the Bulls, because they're not really like the NBA. They play good team ball, and it's fun watching Derrick Rose run around and pass the ball, and they play hard. But I don't miss the rest of the league. The overpriced players, the Miami Heat, the trash talking, the over-hyped, underperforming stars who never earn their money or their reputations.

It's a tough week to wear orange around here. First, to Champaign. Dear Mr. Zook, the party is over; it's time for you to move on. I realize not everyone can be a football factory like Penn State (ooh, bad example) or Ohio State (ooh, another bad example) or Michigan (a terrible example) but you have to beat all of these teams on their down years, which comes along once every 25 years or so. And you haven't. And you lost your mind at a news conference. Not a good sign.
