With the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) coming up, Chicago is going to be the center of the pop culture universe for a while. Names from the worlds of comics, television and movies will be visiting our fair city, and there's going to be plenty to geek out about. Now, I've been made privvy to a special event that's taking place the week of C2E2 , one that will be of great interest to geeks and nerds who have a sense of adventure! CBS will add the new comedy “¡ROB!” to its Thursday night line-up at midseason, the network announced Monday. But what's with the strange punctuation, you ask? Rob Schneider stars as a lifelong bachelor who just married into a tight-knit Mexican-American family - and that's how add an excitement to a TV show title in Spanish. (It's not working, CBS. ¡I am not excited by this announcement!) “¡ROB!” premieres Jan. 12 and also stars Cheech Marin, Claudia Bassols, Diana Maria Riva, Eugenio Derbez and Lupe Ontiveros.

I'm going to be honest with you folks here, I'm not sure how I feel about this. If you weren't aware, there are those who have taken their fantasies of becoming super-heroes beyond dressing up for costume parties and comic conventions. They have become what have been dubbed as "real-life superheroes. " Now, this idea is nothing new. There are a bunch in Chicago , a few in San Diego , and one in Seattle who has gotten a lot of publicity. Seattle has even given rise to a super-villain , who if you ask me, offers more in the way of entertainment.

Doesn't seem to matter how long-in-the-tooth some CBS series get, they just ain't never going away. Cases in point, "Survivor," "48 Hours Mystery" and "60 Minutes," which launch their 25th, 26th and 45th seasons this fall. The network finally put "CSI: Miami" out of our misery, but "CSI" is back for its 13th season. New shows joining "America's most watched" network include the comedy "Partners" and dramas "Vegas," "Made in Jersey" and "Elementary. " Click the links in the "related" field at left to learn more about the new shows.

White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham didn't get a ring on the field in 2012. Once the season ended, however, that was a different story. "I got engaged [to "Amazing Race" contestant Brittany Fletcher], so that was kind of a big one," he said. Beckham and other Sox players converged on the Palmer House Hilton last weekend for the team's annual fan extravaganza, Sox Fest. In addition to getting engaged, the Georgia native spent a lot of time hunting. "I mainly like to hunt deer, so that's obviously a fall sport," Beckham said.
