I'm going to be honest with you folks here, I'm not sure how I feel about this. If you weren't aware, there are those who have taken their fantasies of becoming super-heroes beyond dressing up for costume parties and comic conventions. They have become what have been dubbed as "real-life superheroes. " Now, this idea is nothing new. There are a bunch in Chicago , a few in San Diego , and one in Seattle who has gotten a lot of publicity. Seattle has even given rise to a super-villain , who if you ask me, offers more in the way of entertainment.

If the ending of "Top Chef: Texas" has you starved for Chicago chefs on TV, you'll get your fix on a new cooking-centric Bravo show coming later this spring. "Around the World in 80 Plates" is set to fill that 9 p.m. Wednesday void starting May 9. Curtis Stone and Cat Cora host this travel/cooking show that has been described as a combination of "Top Chef" and"Amazing Race. " The cast of 12 features three Chicago-based chefs: The Drawing Room executive chef Nick Lacasse, Table Fifty-Two executive sous chef John Vermigilo and private chef Gary Walker.

Doesn't seem to matter how long-in-the-tooth some CBS series get, they just ain't never going away. Cases in point, "Survivor," "48 Hours Mystery" and "60 Minutes," which launch their 25th, 26th and 45th seasons this fall. The network finally put "CSI: Miami" out of our misery, but "CSI" is back for its 13th season. New shows joining "America's most watched" network include the comedy "Partners" and dramas "Vegas," "Made in Jersey" and "Elementary. White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham didn't get a ring on the field in 2012. Once the season ended, however, that was a different story. "I got engaged [to "Amazing Race" contestant Brittany Fletcher], so that was kind of a big one," he said. Beckham and other Sox players converged on the Palmer House Hilton last weekend for the team's annual fan extravaganza, Sox Fest. In addition to getting engaged, the Georgia native spent a lot of time hunting. "I mainly like to hunt deer, so that's obviously a fall sport," Beckham said.

CBS announced its 2013-14 premiere dates Monday, which includes a special one-hour final season premiere of "How I Met Your Mother" and the debuts of five new series. The new comedy "Mom" premieres Sept. 23 followed by the freshman drama "Hostages. " New comedy "We Are Men" premieres a week later on Sept. 30. On Sept. 26, CBS will begin its new two-hour Thursday comedy block with the premieres of "The Big Bang Theory," "The Millers," "The Crazy Ones" and "Two and a Half Men. " Check out the schedule below.
