Two men were stabbed to death in separate incidents in Chicago in the last week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found. A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death Monday in the 600 block of West Stratford Place in Lakeview, police said. Four days earlier, a 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in the 10200 block of South Crandon Avenue in South Deering, officials said. Nine people have been stabbed to death in Chicago homicides so far this year, a RedEye analysis found.

The season of good cheer has almost arrived - just in time to lift some CTA riders' spirits. Readers have been complaining to Going Public about riders who waste space and suck face. GP rounded up the jeer - in order to reveal who's making the "naughty list" this year. Looking for stand-up riders [Last month] I witnessed a very pregnant woman, an elderly lady and a man with a cane who was clearly disabled stand for their entire ride while onlookers who were sitting didn't even offer their spot.

“Ah, so this is something we will all have to deal with now,” I thought. This after waking up Wednesday morning to discover that both my Twitter and Facebook accounts had been hacked and were sending people all kinds of strange messages. I was alerted to this fact simultaneously by my friend Cord (not a celebrity) and celebrity writer Jon Ronson (totally a celebrity), who tweeted me that he'd gotten a “dodgy DM” from me. Indeed, it appeared as if my hacker had hacked my hacking virginity to direct message some 200 or so people with messages like, “you ar famous now ahah”...

Less than 24 hours after the May 29 fire at Roy's Home Furnishings in Lincoln Park stalled CTA lines, closed streets and impacted many evening commuters, there was nothing left to do but clean up. A handful of people were gathered around what was left of the store at 2455 Sheffield Avenue, watching the crews clean up, while runners and walkers often stopped to take photos of the damage. Owner Roy Warner Jr., whose father opened the furniture store decades ago, looked on from across the street as construction equipment cleared away rubble.

Two women were killed in homicides in the last week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found. A 37-year-old woman was fatally struck by a car Sunday in the 1100 block of North Mason Avenue in Austin, according to officials. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death a homicide. Three days earlier, a 24-year-old woman was shot to death in the 6600 block of South Stony Island Avenue in Woodlawn, police said. Female homicide victims account for about 12 percent of the 386 homicide victims this year, as of Wednesday afternoon.

In case you were wondering, it really is Sammy Sosa, the real Sammy Sosa, on social media. Rebecca Polihronis, marketing manager for Injex 21, a company that makes needle-free technology for drugs that are injected, confirmed Thursday that the former Cubs star has joined the image-sharing site Pinterest .
