You always remember your first time. It's sweaty, awkward; you don't know what to do with your hands. The first experience with flip cup is so memorable. The game's nothing without the iconic red Solo cup though, right? Have you ever tried to play with some other kind of cup? It just doesn't feel right. The company that makes the landmark plastic drinkware (based in suburban Chicago, don'cha know) is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, and since I'm the only Pulitzer-winner* on staff, I took a crack at a composition in honor of the occasion.

It's not exactly the Yellow Brick Road, but a proverbial hop, skip and a jump up the Kennedy Expressway from the wizard of Oz's birthplace lies the origin of a new kind of Oz creation. More than a century after L. Frank Baum penned "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" in his Humboldt Park home, a Chicago-based high-tech start-up called Spooky Cool Labs has created a licensed city-building Facebook game, called "The Wizard of Oz," based on the adventures of Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion and the rest of Baum's weird, wonderful creations.

The stars of comic books, television and movies will be in town this weekend during the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2), to be held at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL. With NBC taking advantage of its Olympics coverage by airing sneak peeks of two of its fall shows, "Go On" and "Animal Practice," and launching Season 2 of its hit, "Grimm," August appears to be the new September. In other words, the fall TV season is upon us. "Strike Back,""Boss,""Hell on Wheels" are back. "The uneXplained," "Totally Biased with Kamau Bell" and"Major Crimes" lead the new series debuts.
