Police warn of purse-snatchers in West Town

West Town is facing an uptick in purse-snatchers this month, according to a Chicago Police Department alert.

The alert said one or two men have been approaching women in the Near West Side community area, attacking them and stealing their purses. The Near West Side community area is covered by parts of the 12th police district.

The incidents reportedly took place in the 1100 block of North Wood Street on May 12 around 9:40 p.m.; in the 1700 block of West Augusta Boulevard on May 22 at about 12:25 a.m.; and in the 1800 block of West Fulton Street on May 24 at about 5:07 p.m.
