Police are warning West Loop residents about a spate of burglaries during which burglars entered homes through their front doors.

The burglaries reportedly took place May 20 in the 1200 block of West Madison Street, according to an alert released Tuesday by the Chicago Police Department to the 12th District, which covers the West Loop.

In at least three incidents, the report stated, the unknown offenders entered the front doors of apartments in a building near the intersection of Madison Street and Racine Avenue and stole property from inside.

Police recommend that people protect themselves from burglary by keeping their doors and windows secure and the outside of their homes well-lit.
