Lauren Krause in an outfit from Tribeca (Andrew Nelles / For RedEye )

It may be named for a New York neighborhood, but you'll find colorful women's boutique Tribeca on Madison Street in the West Loop. Owner Kim Hiley fills the store's racks with trendy threads and visits NYC as well as Los Angeles to hand-pick items for the store. "I'm always searching for new designers that won't be everywhere," she said. Hiley always dreamed of owning her own boutique, but she needed a push to get started. "I was working at a tech startup in the late '90s and thought, if the two guys running the company could own a million-dollar business, I could certainly open a store."
In the interest of showing off Tribeca's vibrant accessories, I chose a neutral canvas in the form of a black drawstring romper (Fifteen Twenty, $168) and threw on a cropped denim jacket (Mavi Jeans, $118). Next, I piled on the jewelry. Cue this colorful, chunky necklace (Tribeca Jewelry, $78) that pairs nicely with the blue from my jacket. For further interest, I chose geometric gold earrings from Chicago label K. Amato ($34) and a wrap bracelet with an innovative clasp (Seasonal Whispers, $74). To add some height, I balanced the floor-grazing length of this jumpsuit with neutral caged boots (DV by Dolce Vita, $108). A convertible clutch (Street Level, $58) is perfect for tying together my clubby ensemble.
Where to wear it: Date night or dancing the night away at a party
-Neutral colors such as black, white or beige beg for color. Play around with which shades work for you.
-Don't be afraid to try new silhouettes. Never in a million years did I think I could pull off a jumpsuit, and here we are!
