May 22, 2014|RedEye staff report | RedEye

RedEye is predicting heavy traffic on Lake Shore Drive Thursday night.

President Obama will arrive at O'Hare International Airport at 5:50 p.m., according to NBC Chicago News. His helicopter will be landing near Montrose Harbor early Thursday afternoon, according to a newsletter from Ald. James Cappleman (46th), leading the city to close some sections of Lake Shore Drive.

Obama is in town to attend two fundraising events—the first one starting at 5 p.m. on the Near North Side—to help raise money for U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. He will travel by motorcade.

The president will spend the night in Chicago and head back to Washington, D.C., on Friday morning.

RedEye will provide updates about which sections of Lake Shore Drive will close once they are announced.
