X-Men: Days of Future Past releases this Friday to viewers everywhere,… (Charitybuzz.com )
If you’re a fan of Star Wars or the X-Men movies, here is a charity auction and raffle that you can enter, where you can win a unique piece of movie memorabilia or a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
First up, with the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past this weekend, the folks at Charitybuzz have a set of Wolverine’s claws – as used in the movie – for a that "geek who has everything" to bid on and win.
The item was donated by Hutch Parker, producer of the newest installment in the X-Men film franchise. The prop item has been signed by Hugh Jackman – who plays Wolverine - and the film’s director, Bryan Singer!
If you're looking to add that truly authentic touch to your Logan cosplay, this is the item for you! Of course, you'll have to be ready to dig deep into your bank account to make it happen. But you'll be the envy of all the X-Fans on your block!
Proceeds from this auction will support RainCatcher, which is described as "an organization dedicated to healing communities by providing clean water for children in the developing world using affordable and sustainable solutions."
Bidding for the Wolverine claws set is open on the auction listing now through June 5th, 2014.
Now, if you don't have such deep pockets, for a donation as modest as $10 you can join the “Force for Change” and get a shot at appearing in Episode VII!
The “Force for Change” is “a brand new Star Wars initiative from Disney and Lucasfilm, in collaboration with Bad Robot, dedicated to finding creative solutions to some of the world's biggest problems. The first 'Star Wars: Force for Change' campaign will raise funds and awareness for UNICEF's Innovation Labs and its innovative projects benefitting children in need.”
There are different donation levels, starting at $10 where you'll be recognized as a "Force for Change" founding member; to $100 where you'll get a limited edition t-shirt; to $10,000 where you'll get a copy of the Episode VII script signed by J.J. Abrams and a lightsaber hilt.
There's no purchase necessary and - as Abrams explains in the video above - folks who donate at any level will be entered into a raffle where the winner gets to appear as an alien in Star Wars: Episode VII.
That's worth ten bucks, don't you think? I sure think so, and even if you don't win the cameo, it's still good to contribute to a worthy cause.
You can join the "Force for Good" and be entered to win the walk-on role at Omaze.com/StarWars.
And that's how geeks do good!
