Break out the plastic bibs: Chicago will welcome its first outdoor lobster fest this summer. The Great American Lobster Fest, planned for August 16 and 17 at Navy Pier, sounds like one of the few reasons we'd brave that half-mile-long tourist trap.

New England Seafood Company will fly in crustaceans daily, and fest attendees also can sip on cold drinks and take in live music. The menu will include 1 1/4 lb. lobsters, lobster tacos, corn on the cob, lobster rolls, fried shrimp and more.

And because The Great American Lobster Fest takes place at the same time as the Air & Water Show, guests also will have prime pier views of the jets along the lakefront.

Tickets go on sale May 31, and a price has not yet been released.
