Brenda Villareal, Carlos Nunez, and Anthony Sanchez, CPD handout
Two men and a woman were accused of stealing $16,000 worth of cellphones and tablets from a McKinley Park Radioshack Wednesday afternoon. The trio was caught, county prosecutors said, after the getaway vehicle got a flat tire.
Anthony Sanchez, 43, and Carlos Nunez, 34, of Berwyn, as well as Brenda Villareal, 34, of Lyons, Ill., were arrested Wednesday afternoon in Berwyn. Police tracked them down after the group fled from the South Side electronics store, the police report said.
Sanchez and Nunez entered the Radioshack armed with a fake handgun, according to court records, and demanded cash and numerous cellphones and tablets from the employees, who gave them $16,500 worth of merchandise and $299 in cash. County prosecutors said some of the haul fell out of the car they used to flee the scene.
Villareal allegedly drove the car that carried the two men away from the scene, speeding up to 80 mph on the highway to evade police, the report said. She was charged with aggravated fleeing from the police in addition to aggravated robbery.
The three were brought to the Cook County Criminal Courthouse on Thursday afternoon.
Nunez and Sanchez were ordered held in lieu of $300,000 bond, and Villareal was ordered held in lieu of $200,000 bond.
