The CTA is hoping to extend the Red Line from 95th to 130th Street.
The CTA is holding an open house Tuesday about its $2.3 billion proposal to extend the Red Line from 95th Street to 130th Street.
The agency is looking to build four new stations near 103rd, 111th, 116th and 130th streets along Union Pacific Railroad tracks, which would extend the Red Line 5.3 miles. Other alternatives include trains running on Halsted Street or express buses operating mostly on Michigan Avenue.
The open house will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Palmer Park Gymnasium, 201 E. 111th St.
The agency is working on a draft of a report describing how the project would affect the environment. This draft is expected to be completed early next year. The CTA is still seeking funds for the proposed extension as it works to improve the 95th Street Red Line station in a $240 million overhaul.
