The cast of "Star Wars Episode VII" gathers with director J.J.… (Lucasfilm )
Adam Driver is going from "Girls" to a galaxy far, far away as a cast member for "Star Wars: Episode VII."
After tons of speculation, Lucasfilm and Disney announced Tuesday the cast for the upcoming "Star Wars" film, but not what characters the actors will play. Expect zero plot details to be revealed as well.
Driver, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga--Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker--in the new film.
"We are so excited to finally share the cast of 'Star Wars: Episode VII.' It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again," director J.J. Abrams said in a release. "We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud."
Abrams is directing the film from a screenplay he wrote with Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote "The Empire Strikes Back" and "The Return of the Jedi."
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy is producing with Bad Robot's Abrams and Bryan Burk, while Tommy Harper and Jason McGatlin serve as executive producers. John Williams returns to compose the score.
The movie is set to open Dec. 18, 2015.
