Common, Big Boi and eight other hip-hop artists have teamed with HBO to create "Catch the Throne: The Mixtape," a compilation of songs inspired by the hit show "Game of Thrones."

"'Game of Thrones' centers around battles for power, and rap is definitely a battle for power," Common, the Chicago hip-hop artist and actor, says in this video from Vibe Magazine.

The video shows a sampling of his rap, which seems to echo the sentiment: "I sit and think when I'm in my zone / This life is like a Game of Thrones."

The 10-song mixtape is designed to pump up interest in the upcoming fourth season of the series, which premieres April 6. In addition to tracks from Common and Big Boi, it includes exclusive material from Wale and and Daddy Yankee, in addition to songs from up-and-coming artists Snow Tha Product, Bodega Bamz, Magazeen and others. According to HBO, the artists are superfans of the series and have "created songs that encourage and inspire listeners who may not have been immersed in the storylines to catch up on previous seasons."

The mixtape will be released Friday during a SXSW event celebrating "Game of Thrones: The Exhibition." The "Game of Thrones" exhibition will run from Friday through Tuesday in Austin, and will include listening stations featuring "Catch The Throne: The Mixtape."

You can download the mixtape at www.soundcloud.com/catchthethrone beginning Friday.
