The Chicago Police Department has announced plans to patrol Lake Shore Drive for drunk drivers Saturday night.

Extra police officers will be patrolling the lakefront drive from 8 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday. Those officers will be on the lookout for impaired driving, speed violations, and safety belt violations, according to the police report.

Earlier this month the DUI Strike Force Patrol unit patrolled the 12th District on the Near West Side and charged two people with driving under the influence, according to officials. They also made a total of 94 citations, including 27 unsafe vehicle violations.
