Empty Bottle hosting dead of winter outdoor block party

February 24, 2014|By Mick Swasko, @swasko | RedEye

A city so desperate for a sign of spring has officially lost it.

This Saturday, March 1, Empty Bottle will host "Music Frozen Dancing," an outdoor (you read that right) block party on a day where the current forecast calls for a high of 23 degrees.

"We're thinking this is the worst winter we can remember and god dammit, we're gonna have some fun outside if it means freezing our asses off," the Ukrainian Village Bar states on the event announcement.

The free event will begin at noon and feature performances by Marnie Stern, Heavy Times and Diarrhea Planet, who make their Empty Bottle debut. The event listing also states there will be chili from Bite Cafe, coffee from Dark Matter and Goose Island beer.

As of Monday, 306 completely insane Chicagoans had RSVP'd for the event.

Eat. Drink. Do: More fun in Chicago this weekend.
