Barbie is no Kate Upton.

Despite confusion on the Internet on Wednesday, Barbie is not the cover girl of 2014's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. An illustration featuring the iconic doll on the cover of SI circulated Wednesday, with many mistaking the promotion, paid for by Mattel, for the actual cover of the issue.

As the New York Times reports, the promotional cover will be wrapped around 1,000 copies of the issue, but the actual cover girl remains to be seen. The actual cover -- likely NOT featuring a completely plastic doll -- will be revealed Thursday night on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

The image is a promotion from Mattel touting a swimsuit-clad Barbie as "The doll that started it all." Additionally, the official Barbie twitter account tweeted the news, along with the hashtag #unapologetic. It will also feature a pictorial of Barbie in various iconic bathing suits.  See below.
