Ah, the Olympic athlete parody video. Since the U.S. swimmers made it popular in 2012 with the "Call Me Maybe" spoof, it's up to the 2014 competitors to raise the bar.

Since this is the Winter Games, we present reviews in the style of figure skating judges, grading technical and artistic mastery on a 10.0 scale.

U.S. WOMEN'S SKI TEAM: Katy Perry medley

Technical: 8.0

Why do they fade out the songs just before the chorus? It slows the video's cutesy momentum. Also, it's hard to tell who's who under the helmets and goggles. On the positive side, lip-synching while skiing down a hill increases the difficulty.

Artistic: 9.8

Huge points for closing the performance with a live, ukulele-driven rendition of "Roar."

Total score: 17.8

LUGERS: "All I Want for Christmas Is You"

Technical: 9.8

The sheer number of "singers"—featuring athletes from 13 countries and a pair of Norwegian broadcasters—and locations is mighty impressive. Rock-solid lip-synching as well.

Artistic: 8.9

Not the most original source material. However, the fact this group had fun making this video is joyfully obvious.

Total score: 18.7

U.S. WOMEN'S CURLING TEAM: "What does the skip say?"

Technical: 7.5

Using "What Does the Fox Say" is a misstep, as the song is wildly annoying. The "yup-yup-yup-yup-yup-yup-yup" and "Whooooooooaaaaaa" are just too much to swallow.

Artistic: 8.3

Where this entry has a leg up is its group choreography—the athletes wear silly costumes while doing it. And we must admit the fox tail on skip Erika Brown is a nice touch.

Total score: 15.8

U.S. SKI TEAM: "I Knew You Were Trouble"

Technical: 9.5

By far the best outfit coordination/dance steps of the bunch. There's even a danger element: athletes falling off a railing at the end of the video.

Artistic: 8.6

The use of a reverse clip where an athlete is throwing snow is a stroke of creativity. And the Easter egg at the end of the skier face-planting in the snow is priceless.

Total score: 18.1

Winner: Looks like the lugers take the gold this time. Only two more years until the Rio athletes take their shot. They'd better get on that.
