EAT

Chef's Tasting Menus

Table, Donkey and Stick 2728 W. Armitage Ave. 773-486-8525

Let the kitchen stretch its legs with a five-course prix fixe ($45) featuring dishes such as aged duck breast with duck sausage, glazed turnip and brussels sprouts; and tea-cured fluke with sunchokes and preserved cherries. There's a $70 eight-course option, too. 5-11 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays.

DRINK

Mixology Academy: The Martini and the Manhattan

Double A Lounge at Mercadito 108 W. Kinzie St. 312-329-9555

Get saucy—so to speak—as liquor experts the Tippling Bros. lead you through the history and evolution of the two classic cocktails and the drink that led to both. Then, learn to create all three and some modern variations. 7 p.m. $35. RSVP required by 3 p.m.: doubleachicago.com

Tuesday Beer Chat

The Dawson 730 W. Grand Ave. 312-243-8955

Get your daily fruit allotment in liquid form as Jim Blockinger from specialty beer importer Merchant du Vin discusses Lindeman's fruit beers and Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock—a dark double bock—and pours complimentary samples (5-6 p.m.). Then, sip a glass of Lindemans Kriek sour cherry ale for $8—and yes, since it's at The Dawson, the staff is calling it "Dawson's Creek." 5 p.m. No cover.

DO

First Tuesday: Midwest Independent Film Festival

Landmark Century Centre Cinema 2828 N. Clark St. 773-248-7759

The series celebrates its 10th anniversary with the Chicago premiere of the coming-of-age comedy "Adventures in the Sin Bin"—featuring Bo Burnham, Emily Meade, Jeff Garlin and Tim Blake Nelson—plus a 6 p.m. cocktail reception, a producers' panel and a post-screening discussion with director Billy Federighi. 6 p.m. $10-$15. Tickets: midwestfilm.com
