Boiling-water trick botched, burns Chicago guy's crotch

January 07, 2014|By Mick Swasko, @swasko | RedEye

A burn never looked so cold.

As everyone in Chicago experimented with the freezing temperatures Monday, many took to their stoves to boil some water and turn it into instant snow. For one Chicago man, however, the plan backfired.

In a video posted Monday, YouTube user Micah Uetricht began his test just as many others did, holding a pot of boiling water and stepping outside. He didn't, however, factor in the wind. As his description of the video puts it, much of it did vaporize, but the remaining water landed on his girlfriends arm as well as his crotch.

"And the snow landed on a guy walking his dog down the street, which led me to issue the worst apology ever," his description reads. "'Sorry ... you throw hot water in the air, turns to snow.'"
