The Chicago Police Department released an alert saying officers would make roadside car safety stops on the Near North Side over the weekend.
The "roadside safety check" is slated to take place from 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 and end at 4 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21.
The alert says police will slow down traffic by stopping cars and checking for drivers who might be intoxicated, or might be committing other safety violations, such as driving without insurance.
Last weekend police officers conducted a roadside safety check in Austin and arrested seven people for driving undre the influence. They also issued 32 citations for various offenses, and arrested one person for possession of marijuana.
