Police to patrol lakefront for drunk drivers

The Chicago Police Department announced plans to patrol Lake Shore Drive for drunk drivers over the weekend.

The DUI Strike Force Patrol is slated to cover the Drive from 8 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday, according to an alert released today by the police department.

The extra patrollers are slated to cover the length of the drive, from Hollywood Avenue in Edgewater to 92nd Street on the South Side, looking for drivers who appear to be intoxicated. They will also be issuing tickets to speed and seat belt violators.
