An employee at a recently-opened South Loop H&M store was arrested Monday after he was allegedly caught stealing close to $2,000 worth of merchandise, county prosecutors said.

Shamone Williams, 23, of the 8500 block of South Yates Boulevard, used a process called "under-ringing" to switch lower-priced items for higher-priced items for sale at the clothing outlet.

The police report said Williams was caught on store security cameras taking thousands of dollars of men's clothing from the store.

Williams was brought to the Cook County Criminal Courthouse on Thursday afternoon and released on a $10,000 I-bond with electronic home monitoring required.
