A Skokie man was arrested Monday after he was accused of catching a cab ride into Chicago from Rivers Casino and then robbing the driver at gunpoint last May, county prosecutors said.

Pradeep Kumar, 30, caught a cab outside the Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, Ill., on May 16, according to court records, and rode it to a home in the 800 block of South Escanaba Avenue in South Chicago. Once there, Kumar allegedly told the cab driver he needed to go inside to collect money to pay the $100 fare. But when he returned he instead had a gun, prosecutors said.

Kumar held up the cab driver, a 47-year-old man from West Ridge, for $47, his wallet, and two cell phones, according to the police report. He was arrested nearly half a year after the incident was reported. Prosecutors said footage from casino security cameras showed Kumar entering the cab.

Kumar was brought to the Cook County Criminal Courthouse on Wednesday evening and ordered held on $250,000 bond.
