Two men were arrested outside a Portage Park Dunkin' Donuts on Sunday evening after they allegedly stole two quarts of ice cream from the store.

Ryan Schmidt, 24, of La Grange, Ill., and Fabian Ayala, 24, of the 3800 block of North Oketo Avenue, were arrested Sunday evening after Dunkin' Donuts employees saw them leaving with containers of ice cream they didn't pay for, according to court records. The men tried to flee in a car, according to the police report, but were stopped by police when they arrived.

The police report said Schmidt and Ayala were both carrying three pills or hits of Buprenorphine, a narcotic that treats chronic pain. They were charged with retail theft and possession of a controlled substance.

Both men were brought to the Cook County Criminal Courthouse Monday afternoon and released on $10,000 I-bond with electronic home monitoring required.
