Lakeview's Real Kitchen created a culinary nightmare to-go for Halloween.
In a tongue-in-cheek riff on the meticulously crafted menu at Grant Achatz's Alinea, Real Kitchen claims in a video posted Thursday to have its own enormously elaborate multiple course menu.
"In the Chicago tradition this Halloween, we at Real Kitchen are dressing up as Alinea," the parody video's narration says. "We'll make sure your dinner will be like no other, with a weekly change up of 45-course meal packages."
Of course, the frightening menu of "nitro poached free range Amish chicken," Krazy Glue as an ingredient and a to-go dessert that's concocted, smashed and swept into a take-out container on the cashiers counter aren't really being served up.The video's disclaimer does note that the restaurant is giving away free cupcakes on Halloween.
Real Kitchen isn't the only Chicago spot "dressing up" this Halloween. Logan Square's Lula Cafe is continuing its tradition of switching up its menu for the holiday. This year, the spot is offering a cannibal themed "House of Human" menu in partnership with Fat Rice, a parody of Chinatown's Lao Hunan. In previous years, Lula has disguised itself with Taco Bell and Kuma's Corner themed menus.
