Stickers on Ventra card readers are intended to show riders where to tap… (Mick Swasko/RedEye )
Having trouble figuring out where to tap your new Ventra card? There's a dot for that.
The CTA last week began placing green dot stickers on Ventra card readers across the bus and rail system. The agency is in the middle of transitioning to Ventra, its new fare payment system.
"These stickers are put in place during the transition and meant to be a visual cue for customers to get acclimated with [the] reader and where they should be tapping their cards," CTA spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis said in an e-mail.
Some CTA riders have complained it takes multiple taps on the fare readers for their cards to be accepted.
The process of placing the stickers on about 3,000 readers should be completed in the next two weeks, Lukidis said.
Ventra will replace Chicago Cards on Nov. 15 and disposable fare cards on Dec. 15.
