This spooky dinner-and-a-movie combo featuring horror film screenings (7 p.m.) launches Tuesday with the original "Carrie." Dine on a $9.95 three-course themed dinner featuring meatloaf with Monster Mash potatoes plus soup or salad and a Death by Chocolate Cake dessert. 5-10 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday through Oct. 31. No cover.

Browse the creations and take a scotch master class with The Balvenie ambassador Jonathan Wingo. 5:30-10 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Noon-10 p.m. Wednesday. Three featured Chicago storytellers—Lara Levitan, Patrick Allen Carberry and Jane deLaubenfels—plus three open mic volunteers (sign up at 7:30 p.m.) share oral or written tales on the theme of "Are We Uncomfortable Yet?" at this BYOB event, which is also BYO pie. The organizers recommend a pre-show stop into the neighboring Pleasant House Bakery. 8 p.m. $5 suggested donation.
