A University Village woman was arrested Wednesday after she was accused of taking herself on a Magnificent Mile shopping spree using stolen credit card information, county prosecutors said.

Jatarrah Hicks, 27, of the 1000 block of West 14th Street, was charged with three counts of identity theft after police officers identified her as the person who used a Warrenville, Ill., man's credit card information to make multiple, thousand-dollar purchases at Tiffany & Co. on Michigan Avenue, the Apple Store, and the Drake Hotel on Sept. 12, according to court records.

Hicks allegedly used the stolen information to pay for two rooms at the tony Drake Hotel at a cost of $824 each, and later to spend more than $1,600 at the upscale Jeweler Tiffany & Co. and more than $2,000 at the Apple Store, county prosecutors said.

When Hicks was asked to provide identification at the Tiffany store, the police report said, she gave the cashier her own ID card and signed for the purchases in her own name.

Hicks was brought to the Cook County Criminal Courthouse Thursday afternoon and released on a $30,000 I-bond.
