He came for the Americana but stayed for a bar fight in the men's restroom of American Junkie, county prosecutors said.

Jawad Jaber, a.k.a. "Crazy Jay," was arrested Monday evening, days after he allegedly punched a man in the River North bar's bathroom, county prosecutors said.

Jaber, 31, of the 1500 block of South Sangamon Street, was using the bathroom in the bar on Aug. 24 when he exchanged words with a 33-year-old-man, county prosecutors said. Jaber then punched the man in the left jaw, according to court records, causing him to fall to the ground.

Prosecutors said a witness saw the fight, which was captured on surveillance video, and called bar security.

The 33-year-old man suffered a broken jaw, bruises to his body, lacerations to his head, and a bruised rib, the police report said.

Prosecutors said Jaber has several past convictions for aggravated battery, including one that occurred in a nightclub and required him to pay $22,000 in restitution to the victim.

Jaber, who turned himself into police nearly a month after the incident allegedly occurred, was brought to the Cook County Criminal Courthouse on Tuesday afternoon and held on $250,000 bond.
