Camilo Maya (Chicago Police Department)
An Irving Park man was arrested outside of a bar on North Clark Street early Sunday morning after he spat on a police officer, county prosecutors said.
Camilo Maya, 29, of the 3900 block of North California Avenue, was charged with aggravated battery and two counts of resisting arrest after two police officers saw him and a man and a woman pushing and screaming at each other outside a bar in the 3400 block of North Clark Street just after 2 a.m., prosecutors said.
The officers told the trio to "stop fighting and move on their way," the police report said, but Maya stayed behind as his companions left.
"[Bleep] you," he allegedly said, spitting in one officer's face. The officers then tried to arrest him, the report said, but he struggled, hurting one officer's knee and another's shoulder, the report said. Both officers were taken to a hospital and treated for their injuries, prosecutors said.
Maya, who was brought to the Cook County Criminal Courthouse on Monday afternoon, was released on a $50,000 I-bond.
