Loop businesses beware; the Chicago Police Department says there is an office supply bandit on the loose.

CPD released an alert today warning of a spate of office building thefts in the 1st District, which includes parts of the Loop and South Loop. The alert said a man was captured on security video Wednesday afternoon stealing office equipment from a building in the 100 block of South Riverside Plaza.

In the video, the offender is seen entering businesses, "looking into individual offices and checking door handles until he identifies office equipment to steal," the alert said.

The alert said the offender, who appeared to be a "nicely dressed" middle-aged man, also stole office equipment from a building in the 300 block of West Adams Street on July 31 around 2 p.m.
