September 09, 2013|By Tracy Swartz @tracyswartz | RedEye

Chicago on Sunday logged its 300th homicide of the year, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.

A 26-year-old woman was stabbed to death in the 1700 block of West 21st Place on the Lower West Side, police said.

Chicago reached 300 homicides in 2012 on July 23 and in 2011 on Sept. 11, RedEye determined.

Homicides are down 21 percent year-to-date versus 2012 and on par with 2011.

Eleven homicides have been recorded so far this month, according to RedEye data.
