A North Lawndale teenager was arrested Tuesday afternoon for mugging a woman on the North Cicero Avenue No. 54 CTA bus, county prosecutors said.

Calvin Patterson, 17, of the 1200 block of South Kedvale Avenue, was arrested around 1:30 p.m. at 2301 N. Cicero Ave., according to court records, when police officers used the GPS in a stolen iPhone to track Patterson, and then asked the woman to identify him.

Patterson stole the phone from a 34-year-old woman, prosecutors said, while she was riding the bus at 2000 N. Cicero Ave. He grabbed the iPhone 5 and fled the bus, the police report said, but the woman was able to recover her phone using a tracking mechanism. Officers tracked Patterson's route on the No. 53 CTA bus, and eventually found him near the intersection of Division Street and Pulaski Avenue.

Patterson appeared at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse Wednesday afternoon and was held on $50,000 bond.
