Inductees in 2013 Chefs Hall of Fame include Paul Kahan and Rich Melman

Paul Kahan, the chef behind well-known restaurants Avec, Big Star, Blackbird, The Publican and Publican Quality Meats, will be inducted into the Chefs Hall of Fame as the 2013 Chef of the Year.

Other inductees include Rich Melman, founder and chairman of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, for Industry Leader of the Year, and Alain Roby, pastry chef and owner of All Chocolate Kitchen in west suburban Geneva, Ill., for Pastry Chef of the Year.

The induction event, hosted by the Chicago Culinary Museum and Chefs Hall of Fame, will take place on Oct. 17 at Castle in River North and also serves as a gala fundraiser for the Chicago Culinary Museum.

The event will also honor legendary chefs Hans Aeschbacher, Jean Banchet and Louis Szathmary.
