Monday marks National Chicken Wing Day and you can take part with seven barbecue wings featuring housemade sauce, celery and dressing. The week continues with daily varieties including mild, sweet Thai chili, garlic honey mustard and the hot-hot-hot Death Valley Insane Wings, which require a signed waiver. 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Through Friday. $5.

Enter through Roots Handmade Pizza and head to the rooftop restaurant for all-you-can-eat pork and buffet sides plus a Goose Island Matilda beer, two specialty cocktails—one featuring Templeton rye, one featuring Fords gin—and a raffle ticket at this benefit for restaurant professionals in need. 7-10 p.m. $40 cash at the door.

2nd Story—Cruel Summer: Stories of Learning the Hard Way

First Look Repertory of New Work

The annual festival of plays in development kicks off with "Buena Vista," by Edith Freni, in which a young man's solo getaway is interrupted by his parents and a blizzard. The series continues with "Annie Bosh is Missing," by Janine Nabers and "The Gospel of Franklin," by Aaron Carter. 8 p.m. $20; $15 for students; $45 for three-play pass. Tickets: steppenwolf.org.

Chicago Zine Fest Movie Night

Celebrate the season and support the 2014 indie publishing festival at a screening—with popcorn—of the cult classic flick, "Wet Hot American Summer." Doors open at 7 p.m. and it pays to arrive early—the first 20 attendees receive a 2013 Chicago Zine Fest T-shirt designed by artist Laura Berger. 8 p.m. $7 suggested donation.
