Call it the Chicago tea party.

Argo Tea invites Chicagoans to Connors Park in the Gold Coast on Tuesday to help celebrate its 10th anniversary and debut of its new greenhouse-inspired café.

The event features a number of activities including free tai chi lessons and live music from Grammy-nominated singer Carolyn Malachi. Visitors also get a first-look at Argo Tea’s greenhouse café, located in Connors Park.

Built with recyclable wood and utilizing wind power, the cafe features sustainable elements to complement its outdoor atmosphere.

“Our greenhouse café represents the values that define Argo Tea,” said Arsen Avakian, Argo Tea CEO and founder. “We strive to create unique, healthy, sustainable experiences for the community, so we collaborated closely with the City of Chicago in order to revitalize Connors Park into a beautiful space for residents to enjoy nature and ingredients from nature.”

Argo Tea’s greenhouse café is surrounded by landscaping and plants such as chamomile and hibiscus, which have ingredients used in Argo Tea beverages.

The grand opening of the greenhouse location starts at noon and includes a press conference with Avakian, Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Ald. Brendan Reilly and Superintendent/CEO of Chicago Park District, Michael P. Kelly at 1 p.m.

The event also features tai chi in the park, tea leaf readings and face painting until 3 p.m., followed by tea blend samplings, local artist displays and live music from Malachi from 4 to 7 p.m.
