Run in underwear, support cancer prevention

July 23, 2013|By Riley Blevins @Riley_Blevins | RedEye

There are very few situations where it’s OK to strip down to your underwear in front of thousands of people.

Thursday is one of them.

That’s when the third annual Undie Dash will hit the Lakefront Path. It’s sure to turn some heads.

Hundreds of scantily clad runners will partake in the 5K beginning at 6:30 p.m. at DuSable Harbor Park. The run benefits Bright Pink, a national non-profit that focuses on prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young woman.

A post-race party will follow at Friendship on the Lake Restaurant, 200 N. Lake Front Drive. Participants receive free entry. Guests are welcome for $5.

While most participants will run in their underwear, event organizers anticipate runners also will dress up in creative costumes. Runners in the past have dressed up as everything from superheroes to leprechauns.

This year, B96’s Showbiz Shelly will be the celebrity judge for the costume contest.
