The first rule of protecting your iPhone from theft? Don't walk around with your earbuds in and your music turned up.

An Andersonville woman did just that on the steps of her apartment Sunday afternoon, state prosecutors said, and a teenager seized the opportunity to take her phone.

Kevin Phelon, 19, of the 900 block of West Lakeside Place, was arrested Sunday evening a few blocks South of the Berwyn Avenue apartment, and charged with theft. According to the police report, he twisted the 29-year-old woman's hand to take the iPhone, and he fled. The woman enlisted a police officer with an iPhone of his own to track her phone to Phelon's location, the report said.

Phelon appeared at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse Monday afternoon and was held on $100,000 bond.
