2013 may have been a year of firsts for the gay athlete, but not in the Pride Parade. Wade Davis Jr. will be the fifth Grand Marshal since 1998 representing pro sports. Here's a breakdown.

>Dave Kopay (1998) – The former football player was a Detroit Lion, Green Bay Packer, New Orleans Saint and Washington Redskin during his career. He came out in 1975 – one of the first pro athletes to do so – after retiring in 1972.

>Billy Bean (2003) – Bean played baseball for the Detroit Tigers, L.A. Dodgers and San Diego Padres from 1987 to 1995. He came out in 1995, and is a board member of the Gay and Lesbian Athletics foundation.

>Esera Tuaolo (2004) – Tuaolo spent his career in the NFL on five teams, including the Packers and Vikings. He retired in 1999, and came out in 2002 on an episode of HBOs' Real Sports.

>John Amaechi (2007) – After he retired in 2007, Amaechi became the first former NBA player to come out.
