Tonight's Critical Mass route will include new Divvy bike kiosks

The monthly Critical Mass bike ride through the city will likely feature the new Divvy bike-share bicycles Friday evening, participants say.

"We'll have a big fleet of Divvy bikes leading the ride, and we're going to ride from station to station with brief stops to allow the riders to renew their bike checkout," a Critical Mass rider wrote to the organization's email listserve Friday afternoon.

The city's Department of Transportation rolled out the program, which allows people to checkout bikes for short-term use at kiosks around the city, Friday, with about 700 bikes painted "Chicago blue."

That plan may help Chicagoans who couldn't bring their bikes into the Loop today because of the city banned bikes on Metra and CTA trains during the Blackhawks parade and rally.
