Chicago is the biggest thrill-seeking city in the country, according to BFGoodrich Tires' "Adrenaline Index."

Fifty-eight percent of Chicagoans said they thrive on seeking out adrenaline-fueled activities, earning the Windy City top honors. Dallas/Fort Worth, San Francisco, Denver and Raleigh. N.C., rounded out the top five.

The tire-makers surveyed 3,500 Americans across the country, finding that more than one-third of Americans are self-proclaimed thrill-seekers, thriving on new and exciting adventures. These activities included events like tough mudders, four-wheeling, marathons, Spartan racing, bungee jumping, racing cars on a track and more.

“Our survey shows that many Americans get their thrills from driving fast around a track or by taking their vehicles off-road,” said Duane Thomas, brand communications manager for BFGoodrich Tires, in a press release. “Even if your passions aren’t on wheels, many extreme activities are in remote, hard-to-reach places, making the right tire your ticket to what we call ‘playground earth.’ ”

While Chicago is home to the country's most thrill-seekers, the city doesn't put its money where its mouth is.

Miami, however, does.

Miami was found to be the top-ranked city in terms of money spent on adrenaline-pumping activities, with the city's patrons spending an average of $1,637 a year. Chicago was ranked eighth, forking over $650 a year.

The survey also found that 41 percent of men versus 36 percent of women said they thrive on seeking new adventures.
