Drivers will need to steer clear of Lake Shore Drive on Sunday morning.
Lake Shore Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic to allow cyclists to pedal for 30 miles all the way from Bryn Mawr Avenue to the north and 57th Street to the south for the MB Financial Bank Bike the Drive.
The cost to register is $48 for the event, which is a fundraiser for the Active Transportation Alliance. Online registration closes at noon Saturday. If the event is not sold out, cyclists can register the day of the event for $58.
The route opens at 5:30 a.m. Sunday at Columbus and Jackson drives. All bicycles must be off Lake Shore Drive by 10:15 a.m.
There will be three rest stops along the route at the start, at north end and the southern end by the Museum of Science and Industry where snacks and water will be provided. Cyclists need to display their rider number, helmet number and wristband.
A post-ride fest follows at Butler Field in Grant Park.
