There could be new grub to chomp on while watching the Bears next season at Soldier Field.
The Chicago Park District board of commissioners on Wednesday will consider authorizing the district to enter into a 10-year food management contract with Aramark Sports and Entertainment Services LLC.
The Philadelphia-based company beat out two other proposals evaluated by the Park District and the Bears to provide food and beverage services at Soldier Field on Bears game days as well as other events held at the stadium, documents stated.
In 2002, the district entered into a 10-year, $10 million deal with Delaware North Companies Sportservice LLC to run food concessions and retail stores at Soldier Field, according to the Tribune. That company, which added the Burger End Zone at Soldier Field in 2011, also provides concessions at U.S. Cellular Field.
Last NFL season, Aramark sold concessions for nine teams: Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers.
This baseball season, the company also handles concessions at ballparks for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies, Boston Red Sox, Kansas City Royals, Houston Astros, Oakland Athletics, Toronto Blue Jays and Atlanta Braves.
An Aramark spokesman could not be immediately reached to comment on possible food menu items for Soldier Field.
