An office manager from the University of Illinois at Chicago was charged with two counts of theft Friday after admitting to stealing an iPad and a $300 gift card to Jewel-Osco from the UIC mailroom, state prosecutors said.

According to the police report, on Dec. 12, 2012, Latrice Blackburn, of the 5300 block of S. Peoria St., removed the items from the mailroom. The items had been mailed to administrators at the school. The report said she and her sister used the gift card at three Jewel Stores around the South Side during the month of December. State prosecutors said Blackburn sold the iPad, which is valued at more than $500.

Blackburn, who was arrested Thursday morning, appeared at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse Friday and was released on a $10,000 I-bond.
