A Rogers Park man accused of robbing neighborhood cab drivers was arrested Monday after police learned he had also stolen food from a local Dominick's supermarket.

Police arrested Charles Boatman, 38, of the 6000 block of North Kenmore Avenue, in his home after connecting him to a recent series of cab robberies near Thorndale Avenue.

According to the police report, Boatman stole a wallet containing $300 from one cab driver while wielding a champagne bottle as a weapon on April 25, and stole $60 from another driver at knife-point on April 23.

Police were already investigating these robberies, the report says, when they entered the Dominick's at 6009 North Broadway to show photos of the subject to store security guards. The guards recognized Boatman's face as the man who was caught on video surveillance earlier that day sneaking a bottle of wine, a sandwich, and some brown rice into his bag without paying for the items.

Boatman appeared at the Cook Country Criminal Courthouse Tuesday and was held on $350,000 bond.
