Sing Along to "The Hobbit" to benefit Chicago Loot Drop

April 30, 2013|Elliott Serrano, for Redeye

Looking for some geeky diversions that will also benefit a good cause? Well, this is the month for you! May will have two fun and funny events that will benefit Chicago Loot Drop, a geeky gaming group that works to help children in need.

First up you have the Cinco De Bilbo celebration at the Public House Theater. Featuring the comedic talents of The Nerdologues, Cinco De Bilbo will also include a screening of Ralph Bakshi's animated adaptation of "The Hobbit." But Tolkien fans won't just be watching the film, they'll be singing along! (If you check out the video I posted above, you'll see that there's at least one rocking song to sing along to.)

For more info on the event, you can check out the event FACEBOOK PAGE.

To buy tickets, check out the PUBLIC HOUSE THEATER PAGE.

Next up you have the Chicago Game Lovers Dweebutante Ball! As Chicago Game Lovers celebrates their 10th anniversary, they are gonna party like it's Space:1999! (Okay, I was out of gamer puns, so sue me already.) The Dweebutante Ball will take place on May 12th at the Public House Theater, with tickets at $25. Just like Cinco De Bilbo, proceeds go to Chicago Loot Drop.

The night's festivities will include games, a costume ball and - get this - The Nerdologues + Cards Against Humanity improv show, Nerds Against Humanity! Along with a few other surprises!

For more info on the Dweebutante Ball you can check out the EVENT WEBSITE.

To buy tickets check out the PUBLIC HOUSE THEATER PAGE.

And to get a taste of Nerds Against Humanity, check out the YOUTUBE PAGE.

All proceeds from these events will go to benefit The University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital.

THE PUBLIC HOUSE THEATER IS LOCATED AT 3914 N. CLARK STREET, CHICAGO IL, 60613
